At NOOD, we’ve never believed that building a community means competing with one another. We believe in lifting each other up.
That’s why we collaborate with the Federation of Canadian Artists (FCA) to create an elevated monthly life-drawing experience for artists in our community.
Together, we each contribute our strengths. This kind of partnership reflects something much bigger than a single event. While FCA brings decades of experience, a beautiful venue, registration, and promotion … NOOD brings something different to the table: curation.
NOOD’s role is to thoughtfully introduce experiences that inspire artists beyond the traditional life-drawing session. This could mean:
- Collaborating with established organizations like FCA.
- Working with local musicians to create an immersive atmosphere.
- Introducing costumed sessions to explore character and storytelling.
- Exploring duo sessions (two models) to create dynamic interactions and compositions.
- Featuring Butoh dance performers to bring a new perspective on the human form.
- Teaming up with body painters to offer unique demonstrations.
- Inviting art therapists to explore the healing potential of creative practice.
- Creating opportunities for emerging life-models to gain experience and confidence.
At NOOD, we don’t see ourselves as simply the host of our drawing sessions – we see ourselves as connectors, bringing organizations together to create opportunities that might not happen otherwise.
Every collaboration is another way to strengthen this creative ecosystem and encourage artists to observe the human figure in new and meaningful ways. The arts community thrives when organizations support one another. Each group has unique strengths, different audiences, and fresh ideas. By sharing these elements, everyone benefits – especially the artists.
